The German Club extends extra special thanks

Each year during Sommerfest, the Rushmore German Club holds auctions to raise funds for the Hospice House.  Thanks to the following individuals, we raised $300 this year.
  • James Pahkamaq--$35
  • Wayne Shepardson--$50
  • Jan Phillips--$50
  • Bob Rensvold--$75
  • Dan McElroy--$90
The Club will be donate the funds raised to the Hospice House on behalf of these kind and generous people.

Vielen Dank!

Sommerfest 2009 has come and gone...

Thanks to everyone who attended our Sommerfest celebration, it was a great success.  Special thanks to all of our Club Members who took the time to make the German Tent happen. Thanks to the bands, and most importantly, thanks to the public for coming down!

See you next year!

The Rushmore German Club believes in Gemütlichkeit

Gemütlichkeit is a tricky word that doesn't really have a literal English translation.  The closest we can come up with is, "A cozy, communal atmosphere full of cheer and health".  Oh, those Gemans and their efficient words for everything.  With this in mind, the Rushmore German Club believes that Gemütlichkeit can be helped along by supporting the community.

People have asked us, "What does the German Club do with the money made during Sommerfest?"
We're quite proud to say that after our expenses have been covered, we like to donate to various charitable organizations.
For a list of organizations we've donated to in 2009, please go to http://rushmoregermanclub.com/donations.html

Happy Wanderers--Today at the German Tent

The Happy Wanderers play this afternoon from 1 to 3pm with no cover charge.
They will resume playing tonight beginning at 7pm until close.

There might be a little rain this afternoon and tonight, so come down to the tent and enjoy yourself if you feel like staying dry and still having fun at the Central States Fair.

There's always something different at the German Tent!

Spotted at the German Tent on Friday, August 21:

Even superheroes need to wet their whistle. Not shown was Wolverine doing the chicken dance--it was one of those "I wish I had a camera" moments!

Don't miss Steve Rock Tanzkapelle tonight from 7pm-midnight--who knows what you'll see?
We still have commemorative steins for sale, but they're going quick...
